Many of you, are like me. Ambitious. You challenge the status quo. Never content to just be. Marching to the beat of a different drum, not because you are defiant but because you want more. You will never settle to be just average. You have the Entrepreneurial Spirit.
I was born with this spirit also. I first started my entrepreneurial endeavors when I was 16, An event planner, creating Easter parties for children to attend after their worship services on Easter Sunday at my Uncle's Club.$3.00 per child, one adult per child for free and food and beverages were sold at the event. I had to hire a staff, of course, so my sister, brothers and a few cousins became my employees. It turned out to be very lucrative and lasted for many years until I wanted more.
As the years went on I found myself drawn to the fashion industry creating Kim's Boutique, selling women's and children's clothing, rated by Dun and Bradstreet of Wall Street. There I learned a lot about People, Budgeting, Merchandising, Buying, and Selling and competing with corporate retail. But it still wasn't enough. Because I never had an education in management, I wanted to work retail in the corporate world. In 1999 I began my management career with a world renowned fashion retailer and I have been in retail ever since. Managing volumes as low as $500,000.00 to $8 million . I have built my reputation to be one of the most sought out managers in the area. I have remained in stores because I love meeting people, building relationships with my teams, helping to develop people skills in the retail sector.
I have also learned that mystrength is in developing talent. I have the ability to build relationships that are non-threatening, if you get to know me, and give the best advice, for your development. I know People. I have people who seek me out to work for me. But this doesn't stop the Entrepreneurial Spirit that drives within. You want more. You want your own.So you continue to seek.
One other aspect I have uncovered in my 32 years of Entrepreneurial endeavors is Mind, Body and Spirit. Without these functioning healthy and together you are nothing. Hence, I have come across a few businesses that I have found to reputable and profitable if worked correctly.
